The Camping Trip

I Love Lucy Season 2 The Camping Trip Episode 29
11/17/2016

Before I watched this episode I had no parasocial relationship with Lucy or Ricky whatsoever.  This is probably because I have had limited television exposure in my life.  However, when I did watch this episode, I found that I had developed a sort of friend and mentor relationship with both Lucy and Ricky.

In this episode, Lucy has kind of a good sense of humor with her husband Ricky.  This made me feel good because she matched my characteristic of having a sense of humor.  Also, Lucy was somewhat deceiving when talking to her husband about what she knew how to do.  An example of this is saying she knew how to hunt ducks when Ethel was doing all the hunting and giving her ducks that were hunted.  This had two effects on my relationship with Lucy.  At first I sort of thought she was a cheater but then I reconsidered and took this feeling back because I could see myself doing something like this to someone.  When I realized I might deceive someone like this myself, I found that Lucy and I had some common ground.  On the other hand, Ricky and I have an interesting relationship.  Ricky sort of asks Lucy questions that really require her to think.  Back to the duck case, he asks her where she got the ducks and how they were skinned so good.  This affects my relationship with him because I also would ask questions of people if I thought I was being deceived, and this made me have common lines with Ricky.

I would give a lot of advice to Lucy in this episode.  I would say that she should first off not lie to people and if she is going to, make sure that she is prepared to answer any question.  In addition to being prepared to answer any question, she should make sure her answers are well thought out.  I have several predictions about her behavior in the next episode.  One of the biggest things is that she will not be deceiving to other people.  Instead of being deceiving, she will have learned what does and doesn't work and tell the truth.  As I mentioned above, if Lucy does decide to lie or deceive, she will think through everything before doing so.  On the other hand, I do not think Ricky needs any advice or criticism.  I expect him to be just the same in the next episode.  I feel this way because he doesn't do anything that he needs to learn from.
